Hello and welcome! This week I’m going for more of a mystical fall design. I hope you find it as refreshing as I do.
A few months back, I realized that my Moon Shine Mani – Ragnarok polish was the perfect pairing to my dragon stamping plate images. But it was just never the right time for a dragon theme. This week though, I’m finally getting to do it! Since I had decided on the color and design long ago, there was no need to research inspirations. I just had to make sure my idea came to life successfully.
What I Used:
- Base Coat: Glisten & Glow – Base Coat
- 1st Color: Moon Shine Mani – Ragnarok
- 2nd Color: Maniology – Spiced Orange
- 3rd Color: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Black to Black
- Top Coat: Glisten & Glow – Top Coat
- Maniology Mini Lotus mat
- Maniology BM-S187 stamping plate
- silicone stamper & scraper
- lint roller sheet
- Twinkled T clean up brush, size #2
- acetone nail polish remover
I started with base coat and two coats of Ragnarok (even the name works well with this theme). And I just could not stop staring at my nails. I’ts not a traditionally pretty polish, but something about it just draws you in. Next, I decided to try using the gold from last week again (just because it was so beautiful). But unfortunately, my instincts were right, and it did not show up against that green-gold-red base.
So instead, I stamped over top the gold with black. But the black was actually very sheer. The photos make it look more opaque than it was in person. Which meant that I had to double stamp the black to make it work (and eventually get a new black stamping polish). The double stamping was probably the only thing that made me nervous about this mani. I knew if I was too far off on the second black stamp it would just be a mess of lines, and you wouldn’t be able to tell what the image is anymore.
Lucky for me, I did a great job at adding that second stamp. And the few spots that weren’t perfectly aligned just gave the design a neat shadow effect. And the gold underneath gave it an extra bit of dimension. It all just turned out so perfectly, it was easy but has some color combos that give it complexity. I love it!
Hope everyone has a wonderful, mystical rest of the week.
Update:
Well, it looks like all my picking last week just weakened my nails and doomed them to more chipping. The same nails that I had trouble with last week were the ones to down this week. It started with one thumb, then another, and then my middle finger. And of course, I picked at them some more. I tried to do a quick fill of the chips but even that wore away eventually. So I’ve decided to shorten them and wait for them to get better.
