Hello and welcome! I’m headed off to my friends wedding this weekend, so as much as I want to start my Halloween manicures, they will just have to wait until next week.
Even though I didn’t want to do anything spooky, I knew I still wanted something dark. And I figured that a black, grey, and white look would still be very classy. So I searched the internet for some sort of inspiration. And that’s when I found a marble granite design from @thegreatgratzky. She also used gold, but for some reason, I was stuck on the thought of doing something more monochromatic. It probably didn’t help that I still hadn’t decided on my dress yet. So even though this was my inspiration, my nails look much different.
What I Used:
- Base Coat: Glisten & Glow – Base Coat
- 1st Color: Colors by Llarowe – ‘Shroom with a View
- 2nd Color: Maniology – bam! white
- 3rd Color: Glisten & Glow – OG Snowman
- Top Coat: Glisten & Glow – Top Coat
- Maniology Mini Lotus mat
- Whats Up Nails B010 stamping plate
- clear stamper & scraper
- lint roller sheet
- acetone nail polish remover
- Twinkled T clean up brush, size #2
I started with base coat and two coats of the beautiful gunmetal grey. It has such a subtle holo to it, and is just the perfect non-spooky fall polish. Then I should have covered my skin in liquid latex, but guess what I forgot?

I stamped the stone crack design in white all over my nails. But I wasn’t liking how bright the white was, or how much it covered up that gorgeous grey. So I tried stamping a grey creme over top the white, but doing a perfect second stamp is pretty much impossible. Some of the white got covered, which successfully made it less bright. On my pointer finger, you can see that I tried stamping a third time, but that made it just too messy. And it even looks a little blurred. Instead of redoing that nail, I just let it be the special different one.
Even though this design isn’t as dark as I originally planned, it’s still very cute. And it’s definitely wedding appropriate. Although, I wore a navy lace dress, so it wasn’t perfectly matched. I hope you all like this part stone, part leopard look.
I’m still catching up, so I hope you all had a great week!
Update:
Unfortunately, before I could even really take pictures and start the design work, I already had chipping. Me being the klutz that I am, tripped over a garden light while leaving the house, and both my thumb nails ended up chipped. I guess that’s what I get for leaving the house. But, I obviously fixed them and moved on. And they looked like they were going to last the whole week. Until the very last day. My right thumb nail just chipped away like it wasn’t even stuck on. So at least I got through most of the week (and most importantly, the wedding) with beautiful looking nails.
