Daisy Downer

Hello and welcome! Right in the middle of spring, I was just a little moody with all of my allergies and what not. So I had to match my nails to my attitude.

This manicure was completely inspired by a stamping plate from Maniology. I saw @copycatclaws post about it, and I thought the images were funny and sassy. But I didn’t actually want to buy it until I realized that it had the phrase “too peopley outside”. That exact mood of mine, paired with the fact that you can mix and match the facial expression with the flower pedals meant I had to use it right away.

What I Used:

  • Glisten & Glow – Base Coat
  • 1st Color: Painted Polish – 2019
  • 2nd Color: Fun Lacquer – 24 Karat Diamond (H)
  • 3rd Color: Twinkled T – Vibin’
  • 4th Color: Twinkled T – Glow Up
  • 5th Color: KL Polish – Tropicana
  • 6th Color: KL Polish – Pistachio Ice Cream
  • Top Coat: Essie – Speed Setter Top Coat
  • Maniology M026 stamping plate
  • silicone stamper & scraper
  • lint roller sheet
  • Maniology dual ended nail art brush & dotting tool
  • Twinkled T clean up brush, size #2
  • acetone nail polish remover

I started with base coat, then two coats of Painted Polish-2019. I originally was inspired by the delicate holo in this polish, but after applying it I realized that I wanted a little bit more. So on my ring finger I added some extra holo.

Next, I started working on the daisies. And since I wanted to add a few colors to the flowers, that meant I needed to make decals. I stamped the stem and the flower head in black, and just left the images on the stampers. Then I used a dotting tool to fill the stems in green, with the typical white daisy and yellow center.

Then, I added some phrases to my thumb nails. And of course I chose “too peopley outside” for one of them. (The other said “hmm”) I originally stamped it in white, but it didn’t pick up all of the way. So I covered it up with yellow lettering and a black bubble. Plus the yellow and black matched the flowers better.

The next step was just to apply the decals to my nails, with some top coat as a glue. But unfortunately, on my very last daisy, just before it was dry, I smudged it! It was pretty frustrating to have to redo it when I was so close to finishing. But you can see in the photo that there was no saving it.

I love how sassy these nails are. And after having flowers/plants of my own now, I understand just how moody they can be. Who would’ve thought these nails would be so true to real life? Either way, they’re refreshing and cute, so of course I love them.

Hope everyone had a great spring, without all of the moodiness!

Update:

Well overall I’d say I did surprisingly well this week. My thumb nails chipped, so of course I picked at them, but it stopped there. Even with some chipping on my ring finger, and wear on my pointer finger, I didn’t give in. Maybe it was because I was occupied with my thumbs. But no one ever really looks at those nails. On a side note, I tried taking a photo with sunlight, to show off the holo, but it’s so subtle, it’s still hard to tell.
