Hello and welcome! I had a wedding to go to this weekend, and I like to think that I nailed this delicate design (one of the few times I had my outfit picked out long before the actual day).
Since I had my outfit picked out so early, I decided to match my nails exactly to my dress. Well, as closely as I could. The dress was a navy-ish color with pink, mauve, and purple roses all over it. And green leaves of course. I feel like the colors are a bit muted, but I’m not sure if that’s how it was designed, or if it’s because it’s a really old dress. It was actually my sister’s back in the day. But I took it and made a few modifications (mainly removing the puffy sleeves), you can see a peek of it below.

What I Used:
- Base Coat: Glisten & Glow – Base Coat
- 1st Color: Essie – No More Film
- 2nd Color: Esmaltes da Kelly – Muuualda
- 3rd Color: KL Polish – Mozart
- 4th Color: Painted Polish – Stamped in Blush
- 5th Color: OPI – Alpine Snow
- Top Coat: Cuticula – Sour Patch Candy Timeless Top Coat
- Maniology Mini Lotus mat
- Maniology BM-XL351 stamping plate
- silicone stamper & scraper
- lint roller sheet
- Maniology double sided nail art brush & dotting tool
- Twinkled T clean up brush, size #2
- acetone nail polish remover
I started with a very careful layer of base coat, and then two coats of Essie – No More Film. Even though it’s supposed to be a dark purple, I feel like it looks much more navy, or even almost black. But it matches my dress pretty perfectly. Then as those were drying, I got my homemade floral decals ready. I chose a design of a random assortment of flowers since I don’t have any rose designs. And did that in green to bring out the leaf color.
Next, I grabbed my flower colors and started filling in the stamp design. I tried to get a little creative and blend the white and pink, like it is on the dress, but it did not work out like I planned. The colors didn’t blend at all, and it just ended up being a white center with pink outer petals. But I worked around it, and tried my best to hide them when applying the decal to my nail.
I’m so proud with how closely they match my dress. Not that anyone noticed, but they gave me a little extra boost of confidence and happiness. Does anyone else get more self conscious when wearing dresses? Oh and if you noticed, I ran out of my usual Glisten & Glow top coat, so I had to be extremely careful with my top coat application. Luckily nothing smeared.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!
Update:
As you can see, my nails were almost perfect by the end of the week. There’s some tip wear, especially on my thumbs, but that was expected. I’m just really proud of myself for not picking at them throughout the wedding. Social functions give me anxiety, and that makes me pick. So I’m just going to pat myself on the back for a little while.
