Hello strangers! Let me start by apologizing for taking so long to post this. I was sick the past week and work was a nightmare, so I decided to take some me-time. But, of course, I couldn’t resist doing some nail art.
I started off thinking I wanted something extremely simple. I hadn’t been feeling good all week, and I just didn’t want to make an effort. But when my roommate suggested just doing one “party nail”, I thought it was a perfect idea. And I immediately knew which polish I would use as an accent. My boyfriend got me Superchic Lacquer – Awesome Sauce just before Valentine’s Day, and he has been begging me to try it ever since. So I started off with the thought “this won’t take long”, but after I got going, I just couldn’t stop at one fun nail.
What I Used:
- Base Coat: Glisten & Glow – Base Coat
- 1st Color: OPI – That’s What Friends are Thor
- 2nd Color: Superchic Lacquer – Awesome Sauce
- 3rd Color: Sally Hansen Color Therapy – Glow with the Flow
- Top Coat: Glisten & Glow – Top Coat
- Bundle Monster Poli-Peel cuticle protector
- Twinkled T ‘deep v’ nail vinyls
- Bundle Monster double sided nail art brush and dotting tool
- tiny plastic cup
I started with two coats of brown because I thought it would match my Superchic Lacquer polish perfectly. And then, since I was going to use nail vinyls, I added some protective glossy top coat. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice how spotty the coloring was until I was placing the vinyls. So as I was trying to randomly place triangle pieces, I was also trying to make sure the bald spots were covered. As for the Poli-Peel around my nails, I just didn’t feel like cleaning up later. This is only my second time using it, and it feels much thinner than Simply Peel, but I still really like it. Plus, Poli-Peel doesn’t smell as bad as Simply Peel.
Sadly, once I removed the vinyls and liquid latex, I noticed that you couldn’t even see the difference in polishes. No matter what lighting I was under, it all just looked like one color. So I came up with the idea to outline the triangle shapes. Of course I didn’t realize that meant hand drawn lines until I was struggling through them. I took a small brush with some gold, and made somewhat sloppy outlines. And then I Just went back and forth between the brown OPI and holo Superchic Lacquer until I felt like the lines were even enough.

At first I was disappointed by how subtle the holo was, but after a while, it really grew on me. It turned out to be such a great work manicure. And even though it wasn’t as easy as I had originally planned, it was exactly what I needed. Am I one of the few people who relaxes by painting my nails?
I hope no one minds how much catching up I’ll be doing these next few days. My next post will be soon!
Update:
Other than a mysterious chip on my ring finger, my nails only had minimal wear and tear. I’m not sure what happened to my left ring finger nail; I just looked down one day and there it was. And then, just before taking the final update photos, I couldn’t help but pick at my thumb nail. But let’s be honest, was anyone expecting a perfectly kept manicure? Anyways, I was still feeling lazy, so I didn’t even bother fixing them.
