Hello Yellow

Hello and welcome! It’s officially summer now which means tons of heat, and tons of bright, colorful manis to match.

I have been eyeing these bright, yellow, sunflower nails for so long that it was hard to pick just one for inspiration. But, I went through all of my saved floral designs and went with something that looked kind of easy. I would have loved to do a more realistic, more detailed design, but I’m pretty short on time this week. So i stuck with a two nail, simple stamp. And sadly, it’s not even a sunflower stamp since I don’t have any.

What I Used:

  • Base Coat: Orly – Bonder
  • 1st Color: Moon Shine Mani – Dole Whip it Good
  • 2nd Color: Bundle Monster – bam! white
  • 3rd Color: Envy Lacquer – Always Incomplete
  • Top Coat: Glisten & Glow – Top Coat
  • Bundle Monster Poli-Peel cuticle protector
  • Bundle Monster mini lotus mat
  • Uber Chic Welcome Spring stamping plate
  • silicone stamper & scraper
  • lint roller sheet
  • Bundle Monster double sided nails art brush & dotting tool
  • Twinkled T cotton ball picker upper
  • Twinkled T clean up brush, size #2
  • acetone nail polish remover

I started with my Orly base coat (I feel like I never use it so maybe this month should be Orly only?), and then three coats of yellow. I’ve noticed just how much more accepting I am of three coat polishes. I used to hate doing more than two, but then again, I used to only wear simple cremes. And then of course I applied my trusty liquid latex. But only to my middle and ring fingers.

Next, I tested out which version of the stamp that I wanted to use. This Uber Chic plate has a lot of the same stamp designs, just inverted. I ended up choosing white flowers so that the middle was yellow. Then I just needed to stamp it four times, which was pretty easy. But once I was done and cleaned it all up, I felt like it was missing a little something. So I added a glitter topper to my yellow nails, and dotted the center of the flowers with glitter too.

Like I said earlier, I needed something quick and easy because I didn’t have time. But having these bright yellow nails has really cheered me up. I’d definitely recommend trying out something bright to really embrace the heat. And to have something to look at while you’re inside staying cool 😜.

Hope everyone stays cool this week!

Update:

This manicure looks like it held up perfectly. But there’s actually a bunch of tiny little nicks all over them. I have no clue what I got in to, but I can feel the little dents on top and on the tips of my nails. But the saving grace is that I didn’t mess with them, and you can’t tell. Now all I need to do is shorten them after I take off my polish. Does anyone else have the horrible habit of biting only if your nails grow past a certain point?
